Gowganda Lake Camp (Formerly Bullocks) is situated in the
hamlet of Gowganda, a small remote community of less than 100 residents. It is surrounded
by wilderness, the next closest town The camp has 10 housekeeping cottages. They have fully equipped kitchens, private 4 piece baths and at least 2 bedrooms. The majority sleep up to 6 people in them. The more deluxe units come with T.V., microwave and patio doors out on to their deck. They are also carpeted for those that are looking for the comforts of home. All cottages have their own barbecues.
Sport fish of a wide variety are found in the many lakes and rivers that are throughout the wilderness. Walleye, Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass are the main species, but Speckle, Brook and Lake Trout; as well as Splake (lake trout/speckle trout cross) can be found in the outlying lakes. Lake Trout fingerlings have been introduced into Gowganda Lake in 1999 and has been continually stocked since then. General Store The store on the camp property is the main store for
about a 20 mile radius. It carries groceries, souvenirs and, of course, fishing tackle and
live bait. We also have a gas bar (for cars and boats), post office, liquor and beer. Upon entering the store you will find the post office, ice, tobacco products and snack food items such as chocolate bars, chips, pop, and ice cream. Also you may purchase your fishing and/or hunting licenses. For the successful non-resident bear and moose hunter, export permits are available. The true hearted fisherman will find a room full of tackle. We carry mostly brand name tackle such as Rapala, Mister Twister, Beck, Lucky Strike, Blue Fox and Strike King. Rods, reels, bait buckets, nets can be found here as well for those who need to update or have forgotten these items back home. Minnows, night crawlers and leeches are also sold here. Our souvenir section carries sweaters, shirts, and jackets with various pictures and designs in sizes from babies to adults. There are also moccasins, leather belts, toques, and gloves for the cold days of the hunting season. Besides clothing there is a variety of glassware, figurines, jewelry, postcards, and Nature CD's and cassettes.
The grocery section contains a variety of canned vegetables, soups, fruit, and stews. You will also find cookies, condiments, baking supplies, pasta and spices. Paper plates, towels and plastic cups and cutlery can be found by those who do not like to do dishes. For cooking fish, you can chose from a variety of pre-packaged fish batters or make your own from flour, cornmeal, and bread or cracker crumbs that are available. Our freezer contains steaks, ground beef, pre-packaged patties, pork chops, chicken and smoked sausages for you to barbecue or cook indoors. Frozen juices, cakes, pies and French fries are also found here.

(population 600) is about 20
miles away. The camp is found along the north shore of Gowganda Lake. It is one of
Northeastern Ontario's most productive lakes for walleye and smallmouth bass. The
Northeastern Ontario Bass Association (NEOAB) opens their yearly tournament circuit on
this lake.
On the camp premises can be found a Laundromat, an extra shower house, and a
general store. The store carries a wide variety of items from snack foods to meats and
vegetables, tackle to live bait and a wide selection of souvenirs. Fishing and hunting
licenses, gas, ice, beer and liquor are also available there.
The liquor and beer department carries a wide variety of domestic beers,
whiskeys, rum and alcoholic coolers. As well, there are white and red wines. Some of these
different beverages can even be found already chilled.
